Personal life
Krista is the daughter of veteran actor Matt Ranillo. She started to rise in her acting career when she became part of the cast of the television soap Lira, co-starred with Eula Valdez, then followed by Rio Del Mar in 1998. She was under contract for almost 12 years with GMA Network. In year 2005, she left her home network GMA-7 and became a freelance actress for almost 2 years. She then transferred to ABS-CBN in 2008 to star in Carlo J. Caparas' work Pieta.
At present, Krista still has an on-going project with ABS-CBN and is planning to move back to GMA Network when her contract with ABS-CBN expires later this year. She is already lined-up for a project if she returns to GMA 7, her home network.

It is rumored that she is "romantically linked" to married boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao after she was spotted leaving with him after his Jimmy Kimmel interview in the early part of November. They star together in Pacquiao's upcoming film, Wapakman, and rumors of their affair grew even stronger when after Pacquiao's fight against Miguel Cotto, Pacquiao's wife, Jinkee, was spotted crying during their celebration mass. In the clip, Jinkee is seen breaking into sobs after priest Fr. Joey Faller said in his homily, “We can only hurt those people whom we love so much, our husband, our wife … give us the peace we need at this point." She turned away from her husband when he attempted to console her, and instead sought comfort from a friend standing next to her. When asked about the issue, all Pacquiao replies with is a simple "No comment."

Ranillo’s camp has already denied these rumors. Ranillo’s manager, Arnold Vegafria, maintained that the sexy star and Pacquiao are just “good friends.” People say this affair could really be true or it is all a publicity stunt gone wrong for their upcoming movie.
It was also rumored that Krista Ranillo was "romantically linked" to married actor Michael de Mesa, causing the split between him and his wife Gina Alajar back in 2001. When news of Pacquiao and Ranillo's 'affair' were forming, Alajar posted in her Facebook account: “If I were Jinkee Pacquiao, I would not give up Manny. Krista Ranillo is not at all worth it!”
